Mourning Tea Events

The Inspiration:

Mourning Tea was born out of the inspiration of Tea Socials in the Victorian Era. Intimate gatherings of like-minded people to discus and share in the journeys of their lives. A practicing tradition within the pagan communities in Salem, New Orleans and San Francisco, Kayla Baboolal, Toronto’s Shakti~Shaman, brings a modern version with a twist, to Toronto.Three annual socials are planned for the coming year, starting in October of 2008 with our official: Mourning Tea, A visit with the Ancestors.

The Journey, An Event Outline:

Each of our events begins with a simple ritual to get us in the right ‘space’ for the evening’s festivities and are meant to bring welcome to all paths. After the ritual, select a ‘Mourning Tea’ out of our sacred cauldron! The teas are custom blends and empowered for the purpose of the event by a seventh generation island Rootworker and Reiki Master.

As our gift to you, each tea accompanies a 15 minute reading with one of our guest diviners. Ranging from Chiromancy (Palmistry), Cartomancy (Tarot and Oracles) and the power of Runic Divination. Respectfully share your experiences within this intimate social environment while enjoying an array of desserts as you await your turn to see what the future holds! The event ends with door prize gifts, selected by the Fireside Witch, just for you!

The Twist:

The events are non-profit, and will include an aspect of giving back to the community. Our fall event will host the Toronto Food BankThe spring Birthing event, a local women’s shelterAnd the summer’s Transformational Fires, based on animal totems, the Toronto Humane Society. The cost of running the event is therefore truly ‘hosted’ by Shakti Shaman as a way to bring like-minded individuals together, towards self growth, and common aide to those in need in the community.
